  • 1st Eliminatory Round – video preselection

Henri Tomasi: Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra, 1st movement Andante et Allegro
the recording of the piece must be of good quality, recorded with a fixed camera, in one piece, and in one frame (the candidate must be clearly visible), without subsequent technical interventions; the recording has to be sent through the application form via a link from an unlisted video on YouTube

 

  • 2nd Eliminatory Round

Each Candidate performs two works in the following order:

César Franck: Sonata in A major for violin and piano, 3rd movement Ben moderato: Recitativo-Fantasia

A work chosen from the following list:

Alfred Desenclos: Prélude, cadence et finale (ed. Leduc)
Claude Pascal: Sonatine (ed. Durand)
Lucie Robert: Cadenza (ed. Billaudot)

  • 3rd Eliminatory Round – SEMI-FINAL ROUND

Each Candidate performs three works in the in arbitrary order, with a maximum duration of 40 minutes:

A work of Candidate’s choice (solo or piano acc.*)

* If the chosen work is one with piano accompaniment and the pianist, after having the score, comes to the conclusion that one rehearsal is insufficient for a quality performance, the Candidate will be asked to propose another work.

 

  • 4th Round – FINAL ROUND

Each Candidate performs two pieces with the Zagreb Philharmonic, conducted by Ivan Josip Skender, in the following order:
